A packaged air conditioner, also known as a rooftop unit (RTU), is a self-contained heating and cooling unit that houses all the essential components in a single outdoor metal casing. Unlike split systems with separate indoor and outdoor units, packaged units are pre-assembled and ready to be installed on a roof or placed on a concrete pad on the ground.
